Common Questions about Electrolysis and Laser and Skin Tag removal

Electrolysis

  • HYDRATE 24 hours before your appointment! When your Skin and Hair is well hydrated, you get better results and the treatment goes smoother. Drink lots of water!

  • DO NOT SHAVE more than 3 days before treatment or hair will be too short to treat

    Laser

  • SHAVE the entire area closely the day before or the day of the treatment. HOWEVER, for bikini services, don’t shave the part where you want to keep hair.

  • Do not wax or tweeze or sugar the area to be treated.

  • If you have waxed or tweezed the area. Please allow hair to grow 4 weeks before beginning treatments.

  • No SUN exposure 4 weeks before treatment

  • No self tanning products 7 days before treatment

  • No skin care products on the area to be treated the day of treatment. (cream, makeup, perfume, deodorant, oil)

  • If you are on any photosensitive medications, advise your laser technician.

  • We also sell Zensa numbing cream that some find helpful on sensitive areas like bikini.

  • ***Laser treatment can not be performed on ladies who are pregnant, or breastfeeding.

What must I do after my Electrolysis and Laser treatment?

Electrolysis

  • No sun exposure for 24 hours or your skin can hyper-pigment

  • No cream on treated areas for at least 24 hours

  • No touching the treated area with fingers as this can cause infection

  • No picking scabs. If scabs occur, this is a normal process of the skin healing and you can cause scarring to yourself by picking scabs as the skin is healing.

  • DO NOT tweeze or wax between appointments as you will UNDO the treatment. However, you can cut hair or shave as an alternative.

  • DO NOT use deodorant for 24 hours after if underarms have been treated.

  • DO NOT wash the treated areas with warm water or soap for 24 hours after treatment.

Laser

  • Avoid the sun AFTER your treatments until your next appointment. You must avoid the sun at all times to have laser hair reduction.

  • No make-up, lotions, deodorant, for 24 hours

  • Treated hairs will begin to fall out 5-30 days after your treatment. DO not prematurely pull out hair with tweezers. After 5 days, you can exfoliate with a luffa to speed up shedding, or shave.

  • Redness and bumps are normal post treatment. Cold compresses can help reduce redness.

  • Avoid picking or scratching the treated area.

In general, every very hair needs to be treated by electrolysis approximately 6-8 times to be permanently removed.

That being said, everyone’s experience is different due to many factors: hormones, genetics, and irritation, (if you’ve waxed, had laser, tweezed etc.).

If you wax or tweeze between treatments you are stimulating blood supply which fertilizes the hair and has the opposite effect to permanently removing hair.

The quickest results are seen in people who come as soon as their hair begins to come in again and thus the hair is in the  correct stage of growth to be eliminated when it is treated.

When you come in for a consultation we can create a treatment plan that is tailored to your specific hair growth.

In general, 7-10 treatments on skin types 1 & 2 (light skin, dark hair). For phototypes 3 & 4 (Brown skin, dark hair), 8-10 treatments would be expected.
